Introduction to Canoeing
Learn the basic skills of open canoeing, the strokes used to paddle and manoeuvre the boat, learn about the equipment used and about the water environments you'll be in. The day is delivered over a scenic river trip using the natural flow of the Wye by an expert coach.

Introduction to WW Canoeing
White water canoeing is a great fun activity, you will learn about rapids and river features, how to use the water to help you descend rapids, stop and manoeuvre around on them. Delivered on the Wye on and around grade 1-2 rapids with excellent features for introducing skills.

Foundation in Canoeing
This course gives you a solid base in canoe skills across the board, solo and tandem including flat and moving water and a taste of traditional river ascent techniques. It gives you a great platform to develop on and great for anyone wishing to take up the sport. The course is delivered over three different sections of the river including the tidal Wye so you gain the most experience possible.

Introduction to WW Kayaking
Develop your skills to enable you to efficiently handle your craft on moving water, skills include reading moving water, hydrology, ferry-gliding, breaking in & out, support, hazard identification, line choice. Run on and around grade 1-2 rapids perfect for introducing core moving water skills.

Young Kayakers
The Young Kayakers runs one day per week through the summer holidays. A combination of River trips, skills & games provide an exiting and fun course that inspires and grows confidence in Young Kayakers. Participants may join as many sessions as they like and may join in at any time. Bring a packed lunch.

BCU Foundation Safety and Rescue
The first step in safety training on the river specific to canoe and kayakists. An active wet course educating paddlers on safety and hazards to keep paddling fun.

BCU 1 Star award

The BCU say "A flat water canoeing or kayaking award that demonstrates an individual has basic boat control and foundation skills.The one star can be taken in any kind of paddlesport craft (e.g. sit-on-top, slalom C2, polo boat, sea kayak, racing canoe)"

A variety of river sections & skills in canoes and kayaks covered over 2 days. An improvement award that helps paddlers develop fundamental paddlesport skills on flat water. The emphasis is on gaining a breadth of experience, creating the desired movement of the boat and developing an understanding into how the paddle, boat and water interact. Run by our expert coaches with a fun and interesting approach.
